Central Kentucky Family Celebrates Record Powerball Win
A Central Kentucky woman got an early Mother’s Day surprise when her son’s $2 Powerball ticket won a record-breaking $167.3 million jackpot—the largest in Kentucky Lottery history. Linda Grizzle and her son, Shannon Farthing of Georgetown, claimed the prize on April 28, 2025, after buying the ticket at Clark’s Pump N Shop.
Grizzle shared how stunned she was by the win, saying it felt surreal and that she could now finally pay off her debts. She immediately called her son to check the numbers together at a local store.
Kentucky Lottery officials celebrated the milestone, highlighting the win’s impact on education funding and local retailers. The family is working with a financial adviser to choose between annual payments or a $77.3 million lump sum.
